What Were the Festivals Like?
Robert and Hiro
During the Jomon period, they had festivals to celebrate and recognize their gods. During the festivals, they would carry around a Omikoshi, the picture below is a picture of an omikoshi. The Jomon would carry this around in front of the people and they believed their god was in it. Jomon would eat mochi and drink to celebrate the occasion. Like the Jomon, the Indus and Shang river civilizations had gods that they worshipped. The Shang and Indus river civilizations also had many gods other than just one god. The Jomon worshipped a lot of gods rather than one like the Shang and Indus.
In order to make a river civilization you must have a central government, technology, language, cities, religion, and agriculture. Out of all these things, agriculture is the most important of them all. Agriculture is needed for them to settle in one place so they can build a civilization. Things that come with these things are specialization and trade. Now that the people are settled into one place they don't need to do all the jobs for them to survive so they can specialize in a certain job. One problem that comes with a civilization is diseases spread easily and you depend on the weather.
