At the museum, we saw many kinds of farming tools, such as shovels, rakes, and axes. These were made from wooden sticks, metals, and stones. They were used to make the ground softer to plant the seeds. Farming was important because it provided food for the people to grow and settle.

Farming connects the river civilizations of Indus and China with the Fuchu civilization in many ways. Farming made it possible for the people to settle in one place because they could have control over their food. Tools for farming were used in all civilizations to farm in a better way and create a more steady income of food. The rivers of Fuchu, Indus, and China provided water and made it possible to farm. The rich soils around the rivers also contributed to farming. Hana learned about how the people of Fuchu farmed. They planted seeds in the rich soil and used the water from the river to grow the plants. Farming tools were used to make the ground softer. This shows how agriculture, farming, was a very important technology of river valley civilizations. Farming was needed for food for people to eat to grow and live. Every river valley civilization had to have farming, because farming was what made it possible for people to settle with a steady source of food.
