Satshoji (Back)
by Jonathan and Bradley
We had to study about Satoshoji, which is in Japan, near the hills and a ferry by the river of Moon Halo. We think Basho felt very sad and bitter at Satoshoji when he saw the remains of a warrior’s house. Basho was important because he improved and had talent with Japanese poetry. To Basho, the station seemed like a sad station because of all the sad things that happened there. We hope that you will learn about how Basho felt in his visit to Satoshoji and what it was like.

Place is the personality of your area. Land, soil, plants and water all belong in a big part of nature- plants. The way they are connected is plants need water to life and plants grow in soil and soil is land. The human thing we look at are machines, language, jobs, clothes, buildings, government, communication and being poor or rich. Satoshoji was visited by Basho about a mile and a half away form the house of the brave warrior Sato. If I were Basho and I went to Sato’s house, I would feel upset and sorry for the family who died.
Basho was a talented Japanese poet who was not detached from the foolishness of the world's affairs. He also helped improve Japanese poetry. Basho was very poor; he grew up in a lower samurai class. Instead he worked at a water department. He became famous for his poetry. Basho went on his journey to become a better poet and to find the places that the other famous poets visited. He learned the religions of Zen Meditation. He was unhappy about his poetry and his life. In sight of a warrior's house Basho could not help crying. I think I would like him because I enjoy good poetry.
