Do you know how Brazilians dressed two decades ago? Dress is a material culture because you can touch it. Another reason that dress is a material culture is because it provides protection. Dress provides protection because, for example, if it’s a really bad weather if you are dressed it will keep you from freezing or getting a cold.   If you still have doubts about it just listen to this! The word dress can mean what people wear or it can also mean a dress. You know, like what women use. I guess you are a little confused about dress in general so let me clear things up for you! Dress is a type of cloth that women can use, it can be really long, for example to your foot or it can be really short. Dresses can have lots of different styles, like a wedding dress to an Indian dress.

In Brazil people from every state use different clothes with many different decorations. Most Brazilians love to wear clothes according to the latest styles. In urban areas people dress in a European fashion, but mostly Italian style. Some accessories in this style are perfume, shoes, and jewelry. We like to care about our hair. They are always elegant, for them is really important to be elegant. People say that Italians have a perfect sense of dressing. People in warm, humid regions dress more casually. They dress in clothes in which the colors are lighter and brighter. In São Paulo, and southern regions, people normally use more neutral colors like black and white. In Brazil, its common for women to use for work stylish suits or dress with a jacket. Brazilians shoes are often well kept and polished. They love to dress for special occasions. In country regions, it is common to wear more traditional clothes, native Indians wear traditional clothing.

Bahia is located in the North East of Brazil, there they have lots of customs, and people there like to wear powerful colors. In Bahia, women use bright colored long skirts, bright t-shirts, bracelets and necklaces. There, people also use ponchos, wide straw hats, boots, and baggy pants that can also be called as bombachas. In Bahia people come from the Africans

laves that mostly settled there, women use clothings that was inspired by the eighteenth century. They also use bright colored beads that are worn by men and women. The beads that they wear have a symbolic and religious meaning. The color of the beads reflect the African Condomble God that is special to the person that is wearing them.

Isn’t that so cool! Now when someone ask you anything about what Brazilians use you will know how to answer it!
